Beginselen Der Meetkunst [Book binding. A. van Rossum Court-Bookbinder of Amsterdam]

Amsterdam: De Gebroeders Van Cleef, 1838. Hardcover in brown leather with gold tooling. Dutch language book on the rudiments of geometry and trigonometry associated with Dr. Jan Paul Gildemeester. According to an included note, the book appears in a portrait of Dr. Gildemeester (1825-1901). The book was presented to him as a gift for scholarship in 1841.

Book has gold-tooled Coat-of-Arms of Amsterdam on the covers. 300 pages, with numerous plates. Book is 13cm x 21cm. Condition is very good with some edge-wear, corner-bumping and chipping at the spine head. Tight binding and square. Interior pages are clean with light foxing and some toning. Includes a tipped-in presentation certificate to Gildemeester and several fold out plates with graphs and mathematical illustrations.

Bound by famous court-bookbinder of Amsterdam A.V. Rossum whose book ticket is included on the front pastedown. Very Good. Item #1241
